Robert Bresson wrote: "Make people diviners. Make them desire it." An audio diary, essay, and mixtape of Masha Tupitsyn’s quest for love, The Tarot Diaries mines a personal 10 year archive of Tarot and astrology readings. Soundtrack, autobiography, and cartomancy, Tupitsyn turns to the stars and to the power of intimate dialogue for questions and forecasts about belief, love, expectancy, loss, crisis-masculinity, and, above all, the role of fate and futurity in late capitalism. The Tarot Diaries features clips from various thinkers on love—Nina Simone, bell hooks, Jean-Luc Godard, Kathleen Hanna, Derek Jarman, Esther Perel, James Baldwin, Kathy Acker's Don Quixote (which Tupitsyn herself performs), the pastor Toure Roberts, Audre Lorde, and LA writer Johanna Hedva with her own Tarot love story. Musical interludes by Mooval, PJ Harvey, Blondes, Pete Rock and CL Smooth, Craft Spells, E.D.G.E, High Powdered Boys, Rufus Wainwright, The Carps, Thomas Newman’s Desperately Seeking Susan score, and Gwen Stefani.
